I woke up far earlier than anyone should wake up on a Sunday to work on my sewing skills at The Stitchery this weekend.
Result: I’m a goddamn awful seamstress. 😂 I have ordered a sewing machine of my own, though, and plan on plenty of practice.
I’ve been on a quest to learn more about how the things I consume are created. As part of that, I’ve become more and more aware of the human and environmental impact of fast fashion over the past eighteen months. It’s my hope that learning how to create clothing myself will deepen that awareness and help me to be a more conscious consumer.
The second-rate cushion cover that I left the workshop with on Sunday morning is more valuable than it may seem. 🙂
